Gotta be the clio, that was one of the weaker eras for french hot hatches.

Considering you can get any of them for £500 it isn't all bad. A lot of cheap racing to be had.

Oh yeah they're certainly good value for money, especially the 206 and clio, I'm just more nostalgic for the days of the 205 gti, 106 gti, clio williams etc. Then the newer clio RS cars are pretty excellent too. The c2 I'd say is a fairly bad car though, I know someone who owns one and it's been nothing but trouble and pretty poor to drive and live with.

the clio is the best of the 3, I'd rather the 306 GTi if I was to get a peugeot from that era.

Same here but I thought I should only compare "Superminis".

yeah, If I was in Europe I'd get the Clio either way.. but Renault parts are a bit expensive down here in Australia, so I'd rather the Pug who have a better dealer network.

I like that C2 VTS! But the Clio and 206 are pretty snazzy, too. I have to say the Citroen though.

I've already read it haha, it's not helping my want to sell the Panda for a hot hatch.

I'm always amazed about the insane prices of used cars in the UK. You can get a decent ten year old one of those for £500? You'll pay at least double here, for a base model car with 60 or so hp and high mileage. A Clio RS 172 from 2002? €3000-€5000.

With the exception of the Clio, I think I'd rather one of their immediate predecessors, which are still generally going for a song. So, the Saxo VTS - or VTR, if you're having insurance trouble - or the 106 GTi.
